Al Dyck off to Romania

Al Dyck reports that he is off to Romania to help analyze the possibility of a church plant there. For cultural and people group information on Romania from the Joshua Project just click on the country name above. The Nationmaster.com website reports that Romania is more than 86% Eastern Orthodox with only about 7.5% Evangelical or Protestant. Also there is a limited Catholic presence there (4.7%) with about one percent Muslim and the rest unaffiliated.

Please pray for Al as he makes this trip.

Also Al reports that Deela is doing much better after her latest round of chemotherapy. Continue to keep her in your prayers.

Al & Deela Back 'Home'

Map of the NetherlandsWe are safely back in Holland - Arriving on August 1st! We had a wonderful 5 week visit in the states seeing many family and friends. We visited with all six of our supporting churches through that time and I preached at four of them.

Furlough is actually tiring BUT encouraging. It is encouraging to share what God has been doing because we don't always slow down to reflect on that and we receive so much encouragement and reminder from people that they are praying. It is encouraging to see what God is doing in different churches and lives. We wish of course that we could have more time . . .

We landed at 9:00 and by 1:00 I was fast on the trail of solving visa problems for our new staff in Holland and working on staff conference organization that was to start in five days. No time for jet lag!

The boys went to baseball camp for the week and were picked up in time to shower them off and take them to our staff conference which has a great youth camp for teens and an excellent VBS program for the younger kids. Staff conference was busy but very successful in that it seemed to encourage so many staff!

Now, a little breather and hopefully some routine. Back to school, baseball, office hours, etc.

Thanks for keeping us in your prayers! Deela managed well through all of this getting naps here and there. She was interviewed at the conference and did a fantastic job sharing her story and faith with everyone. I hope to get that interview on-line for you at some point technology permitting.

She is currently on her last three week course of the oral chemo and we will have a check up in mid September. Please keep her in your prayers and prayer that we'd receive a good report when we next see the doctors!!!!!
