Al & Deela Update

Here's another update from Al & Deela Dyck, the missionary couple that visited Clear River last summer.

Deela received her new chemo drug on Friday (Nov 11) which went without any surprises. The nice surprise was that Nancy McWilliams whose husband is on CA's executive leadership team as our Pastoral guy was able to be with Deela. I think it was a treat for them both - Nancy is so good at loving on people! Thanks Nancy!

Deela is VERY wiped out this time around probably having a cold to begin with hasn't helped and I think even now we will probably take her in today to get some anti-biotics because she's had a fever off and on over the weekend. So pray that she'd get over this cold quickly - her body needs all she has to fight the cancer not a silly cold!

Please keep the Dycks in your prayers and think about possible sending them a note of encouragement. The title of this posting links to Al's blog and encouragement would be deeply appreciated!

AL & Deela Prayer Alert

Netherlands FlagYou might remember Al & Deela Dyck, who spoke to our church last Summer. Here is an update from Al's blog about Deela's ongoing struggle with cancer.

Yesterday 10 November was the day to visit the doctor. The appointment had been moved from Tuesday because the hospital was installing a new computeradding to our waiting and wondering . . . The news was not great news. The cancer has not visibly spread but the CT showed that one of the two tumors they've been watching has grown. Her tumor markers has also risen up from 93 to 130 which is significant. This means the Taxol isn't working. So today she is beginning a new drug - which I don't know how to spell at the moment. It is a very strong medicine so they'll only give it once every four weeks.

This is obviously very disheartening news for us. Yet, we going into this new phase of treatment hoping that it will kick the cancer into remission. Would you continue praying with us that this would indeed happen?

Let's lift these folks up in prayer; I am sure an encouraging note on Al's blog would also help them.
